Celebrities and fans alike flooded the streets of Atlanta during last week’s Super Bowl festivities. Most kicked off an eventful weekend with former NFL star Chad Johnson and a host of celebs who took to the hardwood for a good cause. The Chad “OchoCinco” Johnson Celebrity SuperSlam was held at the Forbes Arena on the campus of Morehouse College on Friday February 1.
Sponsored by Suntrust and LA Fuel, the star-studded affair raised funds for Usher’s New Look Foundation. The New Look Foundation seeks to transform the lives of underserved youth through a 10-year comprehensive program that develops passion-driven, global leaders. Several athletes and entertainers were present including: KCamp (rapper), Ceaser and Teddy Ruks (Black Ink Crew), Tyreek Hill (NFL), Marshawn Lynch (NFL), Teyana Taylor (entertainer), Jhonni Blaze (entertainer), YFN Lucci (rapper), Terrell Owens (Pro Football Hall of Fame), Lamar Jackson (NFL), Rich Homie Quan (rapper), Davante Adams (NFL), Xavien Howard (NFL), Waka Flocka (rapper), Clifton Powell (actor), Peter Warrick (former NFL), Andre Rison (former NFL), Reshad Jones (NFL), Lil Boosie (rapper), Flo Rida (rapper), Brittany Jackson (former WNBA), Jason Dirden (actor), Bobby Valentino (singer), Ms Basketball (entertainer), Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (former NFL), and others.
Other corporate sponsors of the event, won by the white team, included AT&T, Hemp Hydrate, Drug Free World, Revolution Sports, Vydia, and Rap Plug. The event was produced by Rohan Sutherland and the Genesis Media Group. In addition to Jhonni Blaze’s rendition of the national anthem, the event recognized the sacrifice and service of Israel del Toro, Jr. and the young ladies of D2D Houston put on a spirited halftime show.
