Since Jerry Richardson announced that he would be selling the Carolina Panthers amid his workplace misconduct scandal, questions have floated around. Who will buy the team? Will the team stay in North Carolina?
After months of speculation and rumors, including a campaign by Diddy and Steph Curry to bring minority ownership to the NFL, the Panthers have a buyer.
David Tepper, a hedge fund manager and minority owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers, has finalized a deal to purchase the Panthers franchise for $2.2 billion. He is expected to sign the deal on Tuesday and plans to keep the team in North Carolina. He has already been vetted and all that remains is an approval vote at next week’s Spring Meeting and the sale of his Steelers shares.
The NFL Annual Spring Meeting will be held in Atlanta, GA.Tags: Carolina Panthers sale, David Tepper, Jerry Richardson, NFL
