During Week 17, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced that they would be going forward with Jameis Winston as their starting quarterback in the 2019 season. The Bucs have struggled at the quarterback position as they toggled between Winston and Ryan Fitzpatrick.
According to multiple sources and reports, the Bucs are expected to name Bruce Arians as the new head coach no later than Tuesday. The team fired Dirk Koetter following a season-ending loss to the Atlanta Falcons. If sources are correct, Arians will inherit a team that finished 5-1 despite being the league’s top-ranked offense.
If there’s anyone that can right the Winston ship, it is Arians. Winston has shined at times, and stumbled at others as he struggled to find consistency. Arians had a hand in the development of Ben Roethlisberger, Andrew Luck, and Carson Palmer. Like Roethlisberger, Winston has had his share of off-field scandals and has a knack for turning the ball over.
Could Arians have the magic touch to help Winston reach his full potential? NFC South will be entertaining to watch in 2019.Tags: Bruce Arians, Jameis Winston, NFL, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
